Today I did something so against my character, I feel wrong.

If you read this, please answer honestly. Was I too harsh?

Today I got into a fight with a group of boys.
I told them various places where should could go.
As they walked away, they kept staring. So I gave them the finger.
They told me to "eff of bitch".
I returned the suggestion.
I was shaking so badly from anger, I had to sit down.

but here's why

For my whole entire life, I have been racially discriminated. Not by everyone, but there are those few who seem to just enjoy making my family and I feel like outsiders, like we are not human.
These particular group of people have been making my life hell recently. For months they have been vandalizing our home; twice egging us and more.

The first time it happened, we had to replace our front windows as they got smashed in. All I remember is hearing a loud noise, like fireworks, but as I ran into my entrance hall I realised what had really happened.
My feet were cut up, covered in glass and spoiled egg.
What's worse is that the egg was filtered through our fly screen door and had managed to cover my entire first and second landing.
We were scrubbing carpet, stairs, walls, ceilings, furniture etc. for weeks.
And then they did it again.

But today...
I was standing by my front door with my friend to get inside. Mum had gone to the car to get her other keys.
I heard laughter, and I don't know why, prehaps animal instinct or something, every nerve in my body was screaming at me in fear.
Then they began their taunts, acting like asians in a derogatory way.
Teasing us essentially.

I had had enough, I let them have it.

So I ask, was I too harsh?
